Real Madrid make Rodri their top target next summer.

Real Madrid are reportedly eyeing Manchester City midfielder Rodri Hernandez as their top target for next summer.

The midfielder has been one of City’s most important players in recent years and finished fifth in last year’s Ballon d’Or award.

He played a key role in helping City win a fourth successive Premier League title this year before helping Spain secure Euro 2024 glory.

It has sparked interest from Real Madrid, who are still looking for a long-term successor to Toni Kroos.

Los Blancos could sign Rodri next summer after making him their top target, according to Ufabet.

Spanish media claim that a move to the Bernabeu is also appealing to Rodri, who is already a Madrid native.

However, City have also offered him an attractive new contract, Promotion Ufabet with the club willing to make the midfielder their joint-highest earner on £375,000-a-week.

Rodri, 28, has almost three years remaining on his current deal but City are ready to tie down his long-term future after admitting Real Madrid’s Spain squad tried to persuade him to move to the Bernabeu.

The tone echoes the public recruitment process the Spanish club honed in signing players including Nicolas Anelka, Ronaldo, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard, through to Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe in the past two summer windows.

If this does turn out to be the start of another public pursuit of a high-profile player, then history tells us how it is likely to play out.
